This year marks 20 years of feeding the community, in large part because of MABL star Paul Hendrickson. Paul and his Savory Sunday volunteers continue to serve a meal every Sunday in the basement of the State Capitol – a truly welcoming gesture you won’t find duplicated in any other state. Anywhere from 30 to 60 people come every week for a hot, homemade meal and a to-go sack lunch. We have heard many times how much people enjoy this meal, with good food and friendly faces. We have a strong reputation, and in large part this is because MABL of Southern WI players and friends all have so generously supported Savory Sunday with donations of food, money and your time over the years.
They need our continued support more than ever. Our local food banks have been hit very hard this year due to significant reductions in government funding. Savory Sunday no longer receives any assistance from these food banks, and rely solely on donations. Your financial support will help us serve more than 1,500 meals in 2026! They are always looking for more cooks and servers for the meal.
Grillin’ 4 Peace
Mark your calendars for Grillin’ 4 Peace, February 7th, 2026. There will be a large gathering again at Lake Wingra to make some food, raise some funds (& some glasses!), throw some baseballs around, and spread some peace. Bring a Weber, some meat and libations. We can’t wait to celebrate 20 years with you!
Cheers to Paul Hendrickson & the Savory Sunday crew!
You may donate to Savory Sunday here Venmo: @SavorySunday
Every $150 donated is another weekly meal served.
